Spring 2019: News and Events

April 9, 2019

Social Media Changes

Please note that the recently established RHPOA Facebook accounts are no longer being operated by, or on behalf of, the RHPOA.

Both the closed FB Group and the public FB Page are now being operated by a local resident acting in his personal capacity.

The change was effective 2 April 2019 when the names of both accounts changed from Rothwell Heights Property Owners Association to Rothwell Heights (the public page) and Rothwell Heights Community Interests (the closed group). On that date, the RHPOA logo on both accounts was replaced with a "Community Interests" logo and the RHPOA background photo was replaced by a similar woodland photo.

The longstanding RHPOA visual identity (logo) has not changed, and is still being used to identify RHPOA communications. We will be establishing a new authorized RHPOA social media presence soon.

NRC’s New Community Website and RHPOA Link

The NRC has launched a new Community webpage at https://nrc.canada.ca/en/node/332. The page includes upcoming projects and activities, a list of NRC mitigation activities and reports, and how we can contact them. If you are unaware of the extent to which NRC has undertaken mitigation activities and reports, this is a good place to look. This presentation is completely new and represents what has been reported to us at our biannual meetings with NRC representatives.

For questions and concerns about NRC operations, you can email community@nrc.ca. You are requested to please include your phone number, to allow quick response. Please also cc your email to info@rhpoa.ca, so that the Association knows of your concerns.

Cleaning Up The Capital  15 April—15 May, 2019

The City’s annual “Cleaning Up the Capital” has a formal registration for anyone or group planning a litter pickup project AND wanting City-provided garbage bags and disposable gloves. Registration by April 14 also allows eligibility to win an early bird prize. CLICK HERE for more information.

Anyone can, of course, simply do his or her own thing. One resident has quietly done clean-up of Blair Road (west side), the boat ramp, the north end of Rebecca Crescent, and the Niven’s Woods trails for several years. We hope that other residents will contribute a little during their walks to keep our area beautiful and free of garbage.

If you want to do some clean-up in our area but prefer work with others in a group, get in touch with a Board member. A group clean-up day in Rothwell Heights may be arranged if there is interest.
