Recycling: Blue Box, Hazardous Waste

The City has added several common plastics to its “allowed” list for blue-box collection.  The new items are as follows:

Plastics Recyclable

  • All food and household plastics containers # 1 to7
  • (take-out containers, bakery and produce containers (clam shells)
  • Pails (remove metal handle)
  • Planting trays
  • Flower pots
  • Single serve yogurt containers
  • Clear plastic egg cartons

Plastics NOT Recyclable

  • Styrofoam containers
  • Styrofoam packaging
  • All plastic bags
  • Hard plastics such as dishes, cups, toys, make-up jars, laundry baskets
  • Motor oil containers

Electronics Recycling Events

Electronic wastes can be dropped off at participating retailers listed at recycleyourelectronics.ca , OR you can bring them to the special Electronics Recycling Depots.  The following items will be accepted:

  • Televisions
  • Desktop computers and terminals
  • Monitors
  • Laptop computers
  • Desktop printers
  • Fax machines
  • Disk drives
  • CD-ROM drives
  • Keyboards and mice
  • Amplifiers, stereos, speakers, receivers
  • Cameras, digital cameras
  • Copiers, fax machines, scanners
  • Pagers, PDAs
  • Radios
  • Telephones, cellphones, answering machines
  • VCR and DVD players

  • Aerosol containers
  • Propane cylinders
  • Disinfectants
  • Florescent bulbs/tubes
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Fertilizers and pesticides
  • Mercury switches/thermometers
  • Needles and syringes
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Paints and coatings
  • Oven and window cleaners
  • Pool chemicals

  • Sunday, May 27, 2012 | 9am-4pm Waste Management | 254 Westbrook Road (off Carp Road, south of Highway 417)
