Overbrook Community Association Fundraiser for Tenants Displaced by Fire
The Overbrook Community Association has setup a GoFundMe Campaign to help some 60 tenants displaced by a major fire in their low-rise apartment building on Presland Road, near the Vanier Parkway. It is presently unknown whether the building, which provides housing for people with a moderate or low income, will eventually be rebuilt.
The tenants have lost their home and their belongings.
"It is an issue that we really feel in Overbrook because there's a high proportion of families, usually immigrant families. They need affordable housing and they need a lot of space as well." said Marjolaine Provost of the Overbrook Community Association in an interview with CBC News.
The fundraising campaign continues until Sunday, March 5.
