February is Black History Ottawa Month
Black History Ottawa Month celebrates Black History in the Nation's Capital.
Organized activities honour the numerous achievements and contributions of peoples of African descent, and acknowledge the roles Blacks have played in the growth and development of Canadian society and culture.
Congratulations to Lloyd Stanford for his selection as the recipient of the 2011 Black History Ottawa Community Builder Award (Community Leadership). Lloyd was recognized for his “tireless efforts on behalf of the community in the National Capital Region, especially your inspirational work with the Third World Players”.
The award was presented at the official Black History Month Launch on Sunday, 30 January, 2011 at the Library & Archives Canada.
